Writing quality content is important for a marketing campaign for a number of different reasons. For starters, poorly written content is usually not respected and therefore, even if people read it, will not be regarded as worthy of sharing. You will lose respect for your business as well. In this day and age, communication is almost most often written rather than spoken. It is sad, but true. We e-mail, text, chat, post and read daily. Everyone has decided that he or she is a writer. Yet, no one wants to take the time to write good quality content. Why do you need quality content for your business?
The competition is outrageous! If everyone is a writer, and the Internet is never-ending and always growing, then how do we know what to read, when to read it, whether to share it, or whether we even believe it?
Here are a few tips and steps to take to write good quality content for your business marketing:
1. Consider your industry and your target market. Always, always, always keep in mind that this is who will be reading your content.
2. Look at what is trending. Research your industry news, read blogs, newsletters and current events. Use the Google Keyword Planner to see which keywords are searched most often.
3. Provide advice and help. Why do people search the Internet? They either want to waste time and read something lighthearted and entertaining, but more often they are trying to find answers to their questions. Many times, they don’t even know what their questions are until they read the answers. This is what you want to write about.
4. Speak to your audience. Let’s circle back to point #1. Remember who you are writing for and address them using their terms. Refer to items that they will understand. Give them answers they want.
If you are having trouble writing good quality content, I’d advise you to look at your competitors. Read their websites, blog posts, e-mail campaigns and social media marketing posts and profiles. Which of your competition is successfully engaging the audience, offering share-able quality content? No need to reinvent the wheel. Instead, just improve on it.
