2008 was the year of Facebook.
2010 was the year of Twitter.
2011 was the year of Pinterest.
2012 was the year of Instagram.
2013 was the year of Snapchat.
What on earth will 2014 be popular with?
Let’s take a look at why:
1) Android Users
The population that use Android smartphones is increasingly popular and these phones are already set up with Google+. People will start recognizing how to use it, while the ease of sharing photos and content makes Google+ more desirable to use.
2) Search Engine Optimization
Google is king of search. Basic and original SEO tactics are kind of going by the wayside because Google wants to ensure that they are providing the most relevant and highest quality websites to specific keywords. They have updated their algorithm to include the engagement and reputation of the websites using brand names, keywords, and interaction with social users. This includes and takes Google+ into consideration.
3) Google Products
Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google AdWords, Google Alerts, Google Wallet, Google Hangout, Picasa, YouTube, the list goes on and on. They are all integrated. Seamless. Trying to make life easier for us. Unless you use Apple products of course.
4) Google+ search results
Google+ posts show up in search results and for a business this is fantastic. You can drive traffic to your website by using the appropriate keywords in your posts with a link, hashtags, photos or video. You can also now embed your posts onto your website (or embed someone else’s posts onto your website).
As we near 2014, I really, truly, honestly believe that Google+ will start to get caught on by more and more users, driving businesses to realize the potential and creating a cyclical effect. How are your Google+ skills?
