5 Email Marketing Tips to Help You Stand Out
I don’t know about you, but my email box fills up quickly! According to MarketingProfs, there are over 122,500,453,020 emails sent every hour!
Email has become a staple in every marketer’s toolbox so it is important to make sure that your email breaks through the noise.
Here are five email marketing tips to help your email stand out:
1. Define your Goal
Make sure that there is a clear goal for each email that you send. The goal could be building a long-term relationship with your subscribers or it could be a promotion of an upcoming sale. It is important to make sure that your content, images, and calls to action within your email reflect your original goal.
2. Spend time on the subject line
One of the first things your prospects will see is the subject line. Make sure that it is enticing enough to drive opens. Don’t use a generic subject line like “June Newsletter” or “News from [Company Name]”.
Personalize your emails where you can. According to Aberdeen, personalized email messages can improve the click-through rate by as much as 14% and increase conversions by 10%!
It is important to make sure that your email is relevant! Hopefully you have some data on your clients and prospects that can be used for targeting (previous purchases, industry, location, etc.); but, if not, you can use the results of your prior campaigns to help gain clues about what they like and don’t like.
You can also set up automated campaigns that target email recipients based upon a previous action (i.e. opening the last email, clicking on a link, downloading a tool from your website).
It is getting harder and harder to reach people’s inboxes. This doesn’t mean that you should give up… you need to continually test, learn and evolve based on what is working. Keep in mind that what works for one prospect segment might not work for another so just keep testing!
