As 2015 comes to an end, we have continued to integrate social media more and more into our everyday lives. For talking to friends, to taking pictures, to sharing videos… there’s an app for that!
Here are the top rated social media apps of 2015:
(1) Facebook Messenger
In 2014, Facebook broke out to make an app solely for their instant messaging platform. Through this application, users are able to send text messages, video message each other, make phone calls and now you can even send money through the app! What will they think of next !?!?
(2) Timehop
Timehop is an application that goes hand in hand with the ever popular #ThrowBackThursday hashtag. Timehop connects to your social media accounts, then the app shows you what you shared online THAT DAY… 1 year, 2 years and even further in the past.
(3) Periscope
Periscope is an app that takes sharing “real time” information to the next level. Here is how it works – once the app is downloaded, you are able to login and start a LIVE video stream through your phone. Your friends on Periscope (as well as Twitter, if you so wish to connect the two accounts) will get a notification that you are streaming a live broadcast! They are able to tune in to watch your video and interact with you via comments or virtual “hearts”.
(4) Pinterest
The virtual bookmarking tool that has taken every DYI-er to the next level! Users are able to “pin” images to a specific/categorized board that others are then able to “like” and “follow”. The majority of Pinterest users are women.
(5) Instagram
With over 400 million active users each month. This photo-sharing application was bought by Facebook for $1 billion in 2012.
(6) What’s App
WhatsApp is used by over 900 million people around the world! This is an application that allows you to send instant message text, images or videos to your various contacts. Okay…so why don’t I just text them normally… why do I need this app? WELL, what is so special about WhatsApp is that you are able to send messages to all of your contact NO MATTER their cellular network or where they are in the world! If your best friend lives in Dubai with their AT&T phone and you are all the way in NJ with your Verizon phone, you are able to download WhatsApp to talk 24×7.
(7) Snapchat
Snapchat’s primary audience is between the ages of 18-24. Snapchat is a snap image or video that lasts no longer than 10 seconds that you are able to send to any or all of your Snapchat “buddies”. After those 10 seconds, the images disappears. Snapchat has become a cultural phenomenon for Generation Y.
